You provide the readings

In order to provide a little variety and to encourage you to think a little more broadly about what you might decide to put together for the final project, we’re switching things up this week. Instead of responding to things I’ve chosen, as we’ve being doing throughout the quarter, you’ll be providing the reading this week.

In the dialectical journal this week, you’ll only need to make 1 journal entry and 2 comments on others’ entries.

  • Your entry should be a link to an outside source (website, article, advertisement, etc.) that you believe to be an example of “good” rhetoric in the left-hand column AND an explanation of what you find “good” about it and why in the right-hand column.
  • Your two comments should be pretty standard comments (but you certainly should follow the original links to see the moment of rhetoric your classmate is sharing). Also, be sure to spread the commenting around so that everyone has received at least one comment on the link they’ve shared.

You should do this as early as possible in the week to make it easier for everyone (including you).

I’ve made this decision for two reasons:

  1. It will give you a little room to breathe since it’s probably less work, and
  2. It will give you a chance to see, think about, and discuss a wide variety of arguments and approaches to rhetoric shared by people other than me. This will be especially helpful as you begin thinking about the final project!
